Complete the gaps. In this exercise you have to put the right word in the gaps. Follow these tips to get top marks. Read the text carefully before and after the gap to help you choose the right word. The words are often in a box.

Then, look at each gap in turn and think of a single word that makes sense in the gap. Look at the words on either side of the gap to help you and the whole sentence around it. It is important that the word you write is spelled correctly.
Decide which type of word each gap needs, e.g. preposition, relative, conjunction, verb, adverb, etc. The word must make sense in the context of the text as a whole. Look out for fixed expressions , dependent prepositions after certain verbs and linking words and phrases.
Ask your students to write “TRUE” in big letters on one side of a piece of paper and “FALSE” on the other side. Give your students 2 minutes to read through the completed text.
