In the film Gremlins, Stripe was one of the many gremlin puppets created and operated by Chris Walas. In the original draft, Gizmo was actually going to be the film's main villain, being everything Stripe is, but Steven Spielberg changed it because he felt Gizmo was too cute and the audience would want him for the entirety of the film.
