Early in his career, Vaughan used a Marshall 4140 Club & Country with JBL speakers for his clean tone, and two 1964 Fender Vibroverbs for distortion when performing.

Stevie used various amplifiers throughout his career, mainly Fender and Marshall. Most guitarists with multi-amp rigs will use Fender amps for clean tones and Marshalls for distortion and overdrive, but Vaughan did the opposite. He said of his choice: "I use the Fenders for distortion and the Marshall for clarity."

La guitarra presenta un decal raro añadido por SRV en 1986 atrás del tremolo, hardware de serie, y un mango de maple (no Fender) supuestamente regalo de Billy Gibbons. El tremolo estaba seteado flotante, con cuerdas mas finas y solo 4 resortes.
