Stars such as the sun are large balls of plasma that inevitably fill the space around them with light and heat. Stars come in a variety of masses, and mass determines how hot the star will burn and how it will die.
A stellar evolutionary model is a mathematical model that can be used to compute the evolutionary phases of a star from its formation until it becomes a remnant. The mass and chemical composition of the star are used as the inputs, and the luminosity and surface temperature are the only constraints.
Depending on their initial mass, stars will go through some or most of the following stages: Stellar birth. Young stellar objects. • Protostars. • Pre-main-sequence stars – T Tauri stars, Herbig Ae/Be stars. Main sequence stars. Brown dwarfs. Subgiants.

Internal pressure produced by the motions of the gas atoms, pushing outward, tries to force the star to expand. When a star is first forming, low temperature (and hence, low pressure) and high density (hence, greater gravitational attraction) both work to give gravity the advantage.
