1 de ago. de 2010 · Abstract. The Clinical Pulmonary Infection Score (CPIS) was developed to serve as a surrogate tool to facilitate the diagnosis of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP). The CPIS is calculated on the basis of points assigned for various signs and symptoms of pneumonia (eg, fever and extent of oxygenation impairment).
The clinical pulmonary infection score evaluates objective data in patients suspected of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) and stratifies risk of positive diagnosis. The score also helps clinicians determine which patients may benefit from a pulmonary culture testing.

The Clinical Pulmonary Infection Score (CPIS), a diagnostic algorithm that relies on easily available clinical, radiographic, and microbiological criteria, could be an attractive alternative for diagnosing ventilator-associated pneumonia.
3 de ago. de 2020 · Results. The areas under ROC curves of CPIS to differentiate VAT from VAP were calculated at 0.76 (95% CI [0.72–0.79]) in the derivation cohort and 0.67 (95% CI [0.6–0.75]) in the validation cohort. A CPIS value ≥ 7 was associated with the highest Youden index in both cohorts.
