Los chicos del ferrocarril —cuyo título original es The Railway Children — es un libro infantil de la escritora Edith Nesbit, escrito en inglés, originalmente serializado en "The London Magazine" durante 1905 y publicado por primera vez en forma de libro en 1906.

The children, Roberta (nicknamed "Bobbie"), Peter and Phyllis, befriend an old gentleman who regularly takes the 9:15am train near their home; he is eventually able to help prove their father's innocence and the family is reunited.
The three children, Roberta (known by her nickname Bobbie), Phyllis and Peter, find amusement in watching the trains on the nearby railway line and waving to the passengers. They become friends with Albert Perks, the station porter, and with an elderly gentleman who regularly takes the 9:15 train.
The Railway Children is dedicated to her eldest son, “behind whose knowledge of railways [Nesbit’s] ignorance confidently shelters.” She died in 1924 of suspected lung cancer. The Railway Children is perhaps Nesbit’s best-known work and has been adapted several times for radio, television, and film.
