We were lucky to catch Ross Dolan for a few questions. When you started out in 1988, you were a different band than even a few years later.
After recording the Decomposed and Warriors of Doom demos, Sakowicz left the band in early 1988 and was replaced by Ross Dolan, and the band's name was changed to "Immolation". The new lineup put out two studio demos, in 1988 and 1989, and gained a worldwide following in the underground death metal scene.
16 de jul. de 2021 · This kind of scene-level camaraderie was deeply woven into the early death metal scene. Ross Dolan: Right. It was a very tight-knit scene from the very beginning. There were fewer bands, there was a lot of excitement for this style of music—it was new, fresh, and different—and tape-trading was a big deal.
