The national symbols of the Czech Republic are flags, heraldry, cultural expressions and other symbols that represent the Czech Republic, Czech people and their history, culture and nationhood. There are six official symbols which are declared in the Constitution of the Czech Republic.
The traditional colours of the Czech lands originated from an 1192 coat of arms (depicting a rampant lion with a double silver tail on a field of red). After the establishment of an independent Czechoslovakia in 1918, the country had been using the red and white flag of Bohemia, identical to the Polish flag.
The National Flag of Czech Republic features two equal horizontal bands of white (top) and red with a blue isosceles triangle based on the hoist side. The red color represents the courage and hardiness during war.
Though it included the national colours of the Czechs, the flag contained no symbolism for the other ethnic groups of the country. Moreover, a white-red flag was being used by the neighbouring country of Poland as its national flag .

The flag consists of a top white field and a bottom red one, and a blue tapered wedge on the hoist side inserted in between them and reaching up to the center of the flag. Red color means courage, valor and patriotism of the nation. The blue symbolizes vigilance, truth, loyalty and perseverance.
