22 de dic. de 2021 · Changelings were fairies who had been left in place of a human child or baby who had been stolen by the fairies. The child was taken for one of three reasons; to act as a servant, for the fairies to receive the love of a human child, or for malice/revenge.
Irish legends regarding changelings typically follow the same formula: a tailor is the one who first notices a changeling, the inclusion of a fairy playing bagpipes or some other instrument, and the kidnapping of a human child through a window.

Changeling, in European folklore, a deformed or imbecilic offspring of fairies or elves substituted by them surreptitiously for a human infant. According to legend, the abducted human children are given to the devil or used to strengthen fairy stock. The return of the original child may be effected.
In Irish legend, the Changeling is a decoy set up by fairies to replace a newborn child they have just maliciously abducted. More specifically, it’s a form of deception, designed to avoid arousing the concern of parents, who are then convinced that they have their child with them.

Typically described as fairy children, the changelings are placed by other fairies in the beds of abducted human children. Sometimes, the changeling placed in the child’s place would be an adult and not a child.
