Nazareth. Coordinates: 32°42′07″N 35°18′12″E. Nazareth ( / ˈnæzərəθ / NAZ-ər-əth; Arabic: النَّاصِرَة, romanized : an-Nāṣira; Hebrew: נָצְרַת, romanized : Nāṣəraṯ; Syriac: ܢܨܪܬ, romanized : Naṣrath) is the largest city in the Northern District of Israel. In 2022 its population was 78,007. [1] .

In the New Testament Nazareth is associated with Jesus as his boyhood home, and in its synagogue he preached the sermon that led to his rejection by his fellow townsmen. What makes Nazareth significant is that, as Scripture tells, it was the childhood hometown of Jesus. Jesus certainly made this otherwise unimportant village highly significant.

23 de mar. de 2024 · While Bethlehem in Judea was known in the Hebrew Bible and New Testament as being the birthplace of King David and the birthplace of the future messiah, the small village of Nazareth in Galilee was much lesser-known, not even warranting a mention in the Hebrew Bible, the Talmud or in the writings of Josephus.

A town in Galilee, the home of Joseph. and the Virgin Mary, and for about 30 years the scene of the Saviour's life (Matthew 2:23 Mark 1:9 Luke 2:39, 51; Luke 4:16, etc.). He was therefore called Jesus of Nazareth, although His birthplace was Bethlehem; and those who became His disciples were known as Nazarenes.
