The Blob. In 1958, the classic science fiction movie, The Blob, starring Steve McQueen, was filmed in Phoenixville, Downingtown, Chester Springs, and Royersford. The Colonial Theatre was featured in a pivotal scene of the movie as the creature starts to attack the town.
The Annual Phoenixville Blobfest is a 3-day event that commemorates the classic 1958 movie The Blob that had a famous scene filmed at the Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. The slate of 2023 Shorty’s Short Film entries will also be screened on a loop for ticketholders.
The Blob is a 1958 American independent [2] science fiction horror film directed by Irvin Yeaworth and written by Kay Linaker and Theodore Simonson. It stars Steve McQueen (in his first leading role) and Aneta Corsaut and co-stars Earl Rowe and Olin Howland.
