29 de jul. de 2011 · As Roland Petit is laid to rest, here is an image from one of his last full-length ballets, Chéri, created for Carla Fracci at Teatro alla Scala in Milan. This photograph, by Lucia Baldini, was taken in September 1999 at Teatro San Carlo in Naples.

Roland Petit was born in Villemomble on January 13, 1924. In 1933, he entered the Paris Opera Ballet School, where he received lessons from Gustave Ricaux. After joining the Paris Opera’s Corps de Ballet in 1940, he danced the repertoire that had been reconstituted by Carlotta Zambelli and Albert Aveline, as well as the works of Serge Lifar.
Roland Petit was born in Villemomble, and entered the Paris Opera’s Ballet School in 1933. He joined the Corps de ballet in 1940 and rose through the ranks to become a Sujet there. He left the House in 1944 to devote himself to choreography.
