Perhaps the names Paula and Irving Klaw don’t conjure up the same cultural gravitas of Bettie Page, the mid-century pinup legend who stood as a bold yet all-American antithesis to 1950s sex-phobia. But the Klaws are crucial to the story of Page and her contemporaries.
From 1952 through 1957, she posed for photographer Irving Klaw for mail-order photographs with pin-up, bondage or sadomasochistic themes, making her the first famous bondage model. Klaw also used Page in dozens of short black-and-white 8mm and 16mm "specialty" films which catered to specific requests from his clientele.

Peggy Lee also wrote the lyrics for "Johnny Guitar" (with music composer Victor Young), the title track of the 1954 film, Johnny Guitar, which she sings partially at the end of the movie. During her career, Lee appeared in hundreds of variety shows, and several TV movies and specials.
