Apparently, Frederick Morton had been sent to Eton before going up to Oxford: whilst there, his father died, having returned to Annapolis seeking restitution, so that Frederick succeeded to the title as second baronet, 2 September 1784.

Sir Frederick Morton Eden (1766–1809) was an English writer and a pioneer social researcher. Eden studied at Christ Church, Oxford, and subsequently worked in banking and insurance, inheriting a baronetcy from his father, who had been the governor of the American province of Maryland, in 1784.
Sir Frederick Morton Eden, 2nd Baronet of Maryland, was the eldest son of Sir Robert Eden, 1st Baronet, of Ashted Surrey, Governor of Maryland (d.1784) and Caroline Calvert, sister and coheir of the last Lord Baltimore.
