Alexander Porfyrovych Archipenko (also referred to as Olexandr, Oleksandr, or Aleksandr; Ukrainian: Олександр Порфирович Архипенко, romanized : Oleksandr Porfyrovych Arkhypenko; May 30 [ O.S. May 18] 1887 – February 25, 1964) was a Ukrainian-American avant-garde artist, sculptor, and graphic artist, active in France and the United States.

May 30, Alexander Archipenko is born in Kyiv, Ukraine, son of Porfiry Antonowitsch and Poroskowia Wassiliewna Machowa, brother of Eugene. 1902—05. Studies painting and sculpture at the Kyiv art school. 1906. Moves to Moscow where he exhibits in group shows. 1909. Arrives in Paris.
