Victim of a car bomb attack, the director of the Sûreté Nationale Organised Crime Squad launches a massive operation to eliminate the Godfather, Giuseppe Scarfo. Plunged into the heat of the action, two double agents infiltrate the mafia network and gradually go up the chain to Scarfo.
