Al-Suyuti (1445–1505) was a Sunni scholar who wrote over 550 books on various topics, especially hadith, fiqh, and Arabic language. He claimed to be the reviver of Islamic knowledge and faced controversies with the Mamluk sultans and other scholars.
Al-Suyuti was a prolific Egyptian scholar of the Middle Ages, who wrote on history, biography, jurisprudence, theology and philology. He was a Shafii and a Hanbali, and one of the Ashabun-Nazzar in ijtihad.
