Peter Maurin (French:; May 9, 1877 – May 15, 1949) was a French Catholic social activist, theologian, and De La Salle Brother who founded the Catholic Worker Movement in 1933 with Dorothy Day. Maurin expressed his philosophy through short pieces of verse that became known as Easy Essays.

Biografía. Nació en una familia de granjeros pobre en una aldea al sur de Francia ,la aldea se llamaba Oultet, fue el menor de 21 hermanos.

Peter Maurin attended Mass daily, calling it “the greatest act of love between God and His children.”. His prophetic task was to indicate the paths by which this love could be incarnated in daily living. In his “easy essays,” we find the hard sayings of the Gospel and ways to apply them to society.
Peter Maurin was a French-born teacher and laborer who influenced Dorothy Day to start the Catholic Worker, a radical Catholic newspaper and movement. He advocated for voluntary poverty, personalism, and a return to the land and the works of mercy.
