Hanna is a former Deputy Prime Minister and Government Leader in the House of Assembly from 1967 to 1984, and Member of Parliament from 1960 to 1992. He is one of the earliest and most persistent advocates of Independence and played a leading role in bringing national sovereignty to realty in 1973.
