Manfred Weiss (12 February 1935 – 25 April 2023) was a German composer especially of symphonies, concertos and vocal music, based in Dresden.
The Weiss Manfréd Acél- és Fémművek ("Manfréd Weiss Steel and Metal Works"), or colloquially Csepel Művek ("Csepel Works") was one of the largest machine factories in Hungary, located on Csepel island in the southern part of Budapest, founded in 1892.

Weiss attempted suicide by poison when his factory was nationalized at the time of the Hungarian Soviet Republic, but thanks to quick medical intervention, he survived. However, his life—even if only symbolically—had come to an end.
