In 1943, at the age of 81, he was named college coach of the year, and he remained active in coaching until the age of 98. He is the only person selected for the College.
Stagg was a player and coach who invented many football plays and innovations. He played for Yale and coached at Springfield, Chicago, and Pacific for 57 years.
