  3. Jerry Jeff Walker (born Ronald Clyde Crosby; March 16, 1942 – October 23, 2020) was an American country and folk singer-songwriter. He was a leading figure in the progressive country and outlaw country music movement. He was best known for having written the 1968 song "Mr. Bojangles".

  6. Preview. In the early '70s, Walker became a true pioneer of Lone Star-style progressive country. The dusty-throated composer of "Mr. Bojangles" had abandoned Greenwich Village for Terlingua, Texas and never looked back. His vision of cowboy paradise was especially sharp on 1975's Ridin' High.

It's got it all.
