A Hero of Our Time ( Russian: Герой нашего времени, romanized: Gerój nášego vrémeni, IPA: [ɡʲɪˈroj ˈnaʂɨvə ˈvrʲemʲɪnʲɪ]) is a novel by Mikhail Lermontov, written in 1839, published in 1840, and revised in 1841.
Mikhail Lermontov (born October 15 [October 3, Old Style], 1814, Moscow, Russia—died July 27 [July 15], 1841, Pyatigorsk) was the leading Russian Romantic poet and author of the novel Geroy nashego vremeni (1840; A Hero of Our Time ), which was to have a profound influence on later Russian writers.
