Ronald Douglas Montrose [1] (November 29, 1947 – March 3, 2012) was an American musician and guitarist who founded and led the rock bands Montrose and Gamma.
The Real Deal is an album by the American musician Edgar Winter, released in 1996. Winter supported the album with a North American tour that included shows with Hank Williams Jr.
Many players and listeners alike felt Montrose was the missing red, white and blue-blooded answer to Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath all rolled into one, not to mention being the precursor to the ensuing virtuosic likes of Eddie Van Halen and Joe Satriani.

In late 1972, Winter brought together Dan Hartman, Ronnie Montrose and Chuck Ruff to form The Edgar Winter Group, who created such hits as the number one "Frankenstein" and "Free Ride" (with lead vocals by its writer Hartman).
