Caterina Valente (París, 14 de enero de 1931) es una cantante, guitarrista, bailarina, comediante y actriz italiana nacida en Francia. [1] Su repertorio musical es muy variado e incluye jazz , schlager , pop , musicales , chanson y bossa nova .
On April 14th, 1964, Valente held the following telegram in her hand: “Dear Caterina, I hope that you conquer Las Vegas as you are the only one who deserves to! Elvis.” Caterina was on for 40 minutes and she sang 13 numbers to absolute capacity audience including Ed Sullivan and Danny Kaye and bowed off to what could only be called an ovation.
Las Vegas critics raved about the extraordinary talent of the young European vocalist who could sing in 12 languages and she soon found the spotlight on TV, at the Hollywood Palace and Dean Martin was so impressed he invited her on his TV show at least a dozen times.
