Taito Phillip Hans Field (26 September 1952 – 23 September 2021) was a Samoan-born New Zealand trade unionist and politician. A Member of Parliament (MP) for South Auckland electorates from 1993 to 2008, Field was the first New Zealand MP of Pasifika descent. [1]

23 de sept. de 2021 · Former New Zealand government minister Taito Phillip Field has died aged 68. A family member confirmed Field had died this morning in Auckland. Field made history as the first Pacific Island MP to enter New Zealand Parliament, serving as a Labour MP from 1993 to 2008. He was MP for Ōtara and became MP for Māngere in 1996, succeeding David Lange.

6 de oct. de 2009 · Prime Minister John Key says the Taito Phillip Field saga reflects very badly on Parliament, but is an isolated case. Field was sentenced on Tuesday to six years in prison for bribery and corruption as an MP, and obstructing the course of justice.
