AKA Grafitti Man is an album by the Native American musician John Trudell, released in 1992. The songs, parts of which were rerecorded, first appeared on four cassettes Trudell made in the 1980s and early 1990s. The aka Grafitti Man cassette, recorded with Jesse Ed Davis in 1986, was called the best album of the year by Bob Dylan.
In 1979, Trudell met musical artist and activist Jackson Browne and became more interested in the musical world (and recording albums and performing his own compositions in live venues). 28 de may. de 1992 · AKA GRAFITTI MAN, by Native American poet John Trudell, is a protest record, but not of the usual variety. Trudell employs basic rock, blues, traditional indigenous music, street shuffles and folk songs to craft a compelling hybrid that encompasses many viewpoints and visions of reality.
Together, they recorded Trudell's debut album AKA Grafitti Man, with Trudell writing and performing the spoken word vocals and Jesse writing and performing the music. Released on cassette in 1986, it was dubbed "the best album" of that year by none other than Bob Dylan.
