Zeena Parkins (born 1956) is an American composer and multi-instrumentalist active in experimental, free improvised, contemporary classical, and avant-jazz music; she is known for having "reinvented the harp". [1] . Parkins performs on standard harps, several custom electric harps, piano, and accordion.
While Ikue Mori creates fascinating electronic landscapes with her laptop and drum machines, Zeena Perkins also improvises on her self-designed electronic harp with virtually inexhaustible imagination. In 2004, they released their debut album under the name Phantom Orchard. »Hit Parade of Tears« is the latest album from the ideally matched duo.
