Viking Crown was a side project started by heavy metal musician Phil Anselmo in the mid-1990s. The first Viking Crown release was an EP recorded in 1994 titled Unorthodox Steps of Ritual which featured Anselmo, credited as Anton Crowley, on guitar, bass, drums and vocals.
Years active: 1994-2001. Viking Crown is a black metal project in the Darkthrone vein formed by Philip Anselmo of Pantera and Killjoy of Necrophagia. The final member is Phil's ex-wife Opal. Their debut album was also the first release on Killjoy's own Baphomet Records.

Viking Crown was a black metal project in the Darkthrone vein formed by Phil Anselmo of Pantera. Their debut album was also the first release on Killjoy's (Necrophagia) Baphomet Records. Phil decided to put the project to sleep after the third release.
Viking Crown is a side-project of Necrophagia vocalist Killjoy and Pantera legend Phil Anselmo, who perform raw and crummy black metal inspired by Venom, Hellhammer and Darkthrone. The band has released three albums and one EP since 2000, featuring Opal Enthroned on keyboards.
