Swahili Blonde is an experimental musical project formed in Los Angeles, California in 2009. Founded by former WEAVE! drummer and vocalist Nicole Turley, violinist and bassist Laena Myers-Ionita, Duran Duran bassist John Taylor and multi-instrumentalists Stella Mozgawa and Michael Quinn.

About Swahili Blonde. Swahili Blonde is the project of percussionist/multi-instrumentalist Nicole Turley, formerly of underground Los Angeles bands WEAVE! and Seventh Sea. A former photographer and dancer, Turley took up drumming when she was in her early twenties when her friend Ivory invited her to be in a new group that became Seventh Sea.

Founded as Turley’s solo project in 2009, Swahili Blonde has always involved a varied and multi-talented collective of musical contributors across its releases—including members of Duran Duran, RHCP, The Slits, DEVO, and many more LA scene staples.
After many long nights of experimentation, she happily created the unconventional sounds and compositions that make up Swahili Blonde's debut LP "Man Meat". The album consists of multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Turley giving a voice to paralleled realities, vibrant visuals, and mis-matched rhythms and patterns, musical and otherwise.
