St Joseph's College is a former Roman Catholic seminary and boarding school in Up Holland, Lancashire, England. The foundation of the original building was laid in April 1880 and the college opened in 1883. The buildings have since been deconsecrated.
A Catholic seminary, St Joseph's College, used for training Catholic priests, was once based in Up Holland. The college closed down in 1987 after over 150 years of serving the northern Catholic dioceses of England, and its extensive buildings are now derelict.
What is certain, however, is that no-one expected a College built to last for generations to promote the “Faith of Ages” would function for less than a century and would cease to operate a few years after Michael’s departure. § -1- The opening of St. Joseph’s College, Upholland in 1883 was primarily due to the determined efforts of the Bishop of Liverpool, Bernard O’Reilly.

24 de mar. de 2014 · St Joseph’s Seminary Upholland – View across the lake. The college flourished up until the 1960’s, when changes in the social climate led to a sharp drop in enrolment numbers. The two northern seminaries were integrated, with Upholland becoming a junior seminary and Ushaw providing senior courses.
