Hubert Charles Sumlin (Greenwood, Misisipi, 16 de noviembre de 1931–Wayne, Nueva Jersey, 4 de diciembre de 2011) era un guitarrista y cantante de blues de Chicago, más conocido por sus explosiones de notas y sus osadas suspensiones rítmicas, como miembro de la banda de Howlin' Wolf.
Hubert Charles Sumlin (November 16, 1931 – December 4, 2011) was a Chicago blues guitarist and singer, best known for his "wrenched, shattering bursts of notes, sudden cliff-hanger silences and daring rhythmic suspensions" as a member of Howlin' Wolf's band.

Hubert reflected on his career with Wolf, his friendship with the Rolling Stones and the direct influence of Robert Johnson and Wolf's mentor Charlie Patton.
Hubert Sumlin was the long time guitarist for Howlin’ Wolf. He played with him for most of Wolf’s great hits like Smokestack Lightning, Back Door Man, Killing Floor, and Spoonful, as well as many others. Hubert was one of the creators of the blues. He didn’t copy anyone else but was there when the blues began, particularly Chicago-style blues.
