Magna Carta is a progressive rock / folk rock group, originally formed in London in April 1969. [1] Their first concert was on 10 May 1969, by Chris Simpson (guitar, vocals), Lyell Tranter (guitar, vocals), and Glen Stuart (b. Alastair Urquhart, vocals).

MAGNA CARTA is an English 'folk' band, formed in 1969 in London by Chris Simpson, Lyell Tranter, and Glen Stuart. They were part of the early progressive wave, but without really fully stepping into the progressive realm.
Sus primeros pasos fueron dados en el año 1969, cuando en la ciudad británica de Yorkshire, Chris Simpson (nacido el 13 de julio de 1942) se unió al cantante Glen Stuart y al guitarrista australiano Lyell Tranter para conformar un terceto folk al que llamaron Magna Carta.

Sometime at the end of 1967 Chris formed a Simon & Garfunkel-like duo with Australian singer/guitarist Lyell Tranter. They regularly performed in bars and other small halls. Simpson used Paul Stewart as his stage name at that time.
