Darul Uloom Waqf Deoband is a prestigious seat of learning in Islamic religious sciences, founded in 1866 by Imam Muhammad Qasim Nanawtawi. It offers degree and postgraduate courses, Qira't and Tajweed courses, and publishes academic journals and magazines.
The group founded an Islamic seminary known as Darul Uloom Deoband, here the Islamic revivalist and anti-imperialist ideology of the Deobandis began to develop. In time, the Darul Uloom Deoband became the second largest focal point of Islamic teaching and research after the Al-Azhar University, Cairo.
