Chen Jieru (Chinese: 陳潔如; 26 August 1906 – 21 January 1971), also romanized Ch'en Chieh-ju, was the second wife of Chiang Kai-shek. She was nicknamed Jennie. Chen's ancestral hometown was Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, but she was born in Shanghai. She wrote a memoir which Chiang successfully suppressed during his lifetime.
Chiang Kai-shek's Secret Past: The Memoir of His Second Wife, Ch'en Chieh-ju is a book by Jennie Chen Jieru (as Chen Chieh-ju), with Lloyd E. Eastman as the editor and author of the introduction. It was the final work with work done by Eastman.
30 de oct. de 2019 · Chen Jieru was a bourgeois Shanghainese, well educated and known for her calligraphy. We know a lot about Chen Jieru because when she and Chiang parted she wrote an autobiography in English describing in detail her life with him.
27 de oct. de 2021 · Chen Jieru was born in 1905 in a small merchant family, with her ancestral home in Ningbo, Zhejiang, and lived in Shanghai since childhood. At the age of 12, her mother sent her to a patriotic girls' school to learn about culture.
Yao Yecheng (姚冶誠, 26 August 1887 – 1966), along with Chen Jieru (陳潔如, "Jennie", 1906–1971) was among the two concubines of Nationalist Chinese leader Chiang Kai-shek (蔣介石, 1887–1975) during the time when Chiang was also in an arranged marriage to Mao Fumei (毛福梅, 1882–1939).
