In 1968, Keaggy and longtime friend drummer John Sferra, along with bassist Steve Markulin, formed the band Glass Harp. The band gigged in and around the Youngstown, Ohio area, finding work anywhere from school dances to clubs.
The band was a scrappier, bluesier version of what would become the classic Glass Harp lineup. This would be Steve Markulin’s only recording with the band - leaving shortly after to join his cousin in The Human Beinz. Daniel Pecchio would replace Markulin on bass as the band recorded three LPs for Decca between ’70 and ’72.
After playing in several successful Youngstown bands, 17 year old guitar prodigy Phil Keaggy put together Glass Harp in 1968 with drummer John Sferra and bassist Steve Markulin. Within a year the trio was sharing bills with the James Gang and Grand Funk.
An Ohio-based rock trio GLASS HARP were founded in 1968 by Phil KEAGGY (guitars), John SFERRA (drums), and Steve MARKULIN (bass) who was replaced by Daniel PECCHIO in the following year.
