Gary Michael Louris (born March 10, 1955) is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter of alternative country and pop music. He was a founding member of the Minneapolis-based band the Jayhawks and their principal songwriter and vocalist after the departure of Mark Olson.Louris is often credited with the band's subsequent move from folk-country toward a more progressive, pop sound.

Kindness of the World is an album by the American musician Joe Henry, released in 1993. In 2006, Henry referred to Kindness of the World as alternative country—although he didn't consider that to be a defined genre when he made the album—and expressed regret over its recording process.
With help from Gary Louris and Victoria Williams, here's a CD that I don't find a weak track on. On other recordings from Joe Henry, I haven't found that consistency.But this one makes up for all of those. The vocals between Victoria Williams and Henry are sweet and balanced, especially on the title track 5, "Kindness of the World".
