Ruby is a Scottish electronic music act that was formed as a collaboration between singer Lesley Rankine and multi-instrumentalist Mark Walk in 1994, and is now positioned as a solo vehicle for Rankine. Ruby's sound includes electronic, trip hop, noise, industrial, and jazz, among others.
Lesley Rankine was born on April 11, 1965, and is a native of Scotland. Rankine's first band was the British noise group Silverfish, comprised of the musicians Andrew "Fuzz" Duprey on guitar, Chris P. Mowforth on bass, and Stuart Watson on drums.

Lesley Rankine started out in London as lead singer for indie punk band Silverfish, and then went solo as ruby from '94. Reaching a wide audience with the album Salt Peter, the single “Tiny Meat” became an alternative radio staple.
Silverfish were a UK-based indie rock band which formed in the late 1980s and first performed in Camden in 1988. The band split up in 1993. Their lead singer was Scottish-born Lesley Rankine. [1]
