In 2015, The Drones re-formed with original members Steve 'Whispa' Cundall, Gary 'Gus' Callendar and new members Martin Smith (drums) and Glenn Jones (guitar). In 2016, the new Drones line up played festival and other dates and recording a live album as well as new material.

The Drones came back last night with Steve Whisper Cundall and Gus Gangrene- Whisper was last in the band in 1978 - he now takes over the frontman spot from the sadly missed M J Drone but with new additions Glenn Jones on 2nd guitar and Martin Smith on drums the band are cooking- Manchester date coming soon in a 40th Anniversary of Punk special
