Stanhope Wood Nixon (April 1, 1894 – January 12, 1958) was a vice president of the Nixon Nitration Works during the 1924 Nixon Nitration Works disaster. He later became chairman of the board. He was born on April 1, 1894, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a son of Lewis Nixon I.

Lewis Nixon was born to Stanhope Wood Nixon and Doris Ryer Nixon on September 30, 1918, in New York City. He was the grandson of shipbuilder Lewis Nixon I (1861–1940) and Sally Wood Nixon (died 1937).

Lewis Nixon nació el 30 de septiembre de 1918 en el seno de una familia acomodada en la ciudad de Nueva York, siendo el primogénito del matrimonio de Stanhope Wood Nixon y Doris Ryer Nixon. He was the elder brother of Blanche Nixon (born 1923) and Fletcher Ryer Nixon (who died in infancy in 1922). He was a grandson of shipbuilder Lewis Nixon (1861–1940) and Sally Wood Nixon (died 1937).
In 1891, Nixon married Sally Lewis Wood of Washington, D.C., a descendant of General Andrew Lewis of Colonial Virginia. Their son was Stanhope Wood Nixon, whom Swiss-born American artist Adolfo Müller-Ury (1862–1947) would paint full-length in Scottish costume in 1902-1903.
