The Widow in the Window is a studio album by Canadian jazz trumpeter Kenny Wheeler recorded over three days in February 1990 and released on ECM later that year. The quintet features rhythm section John Abercrombie, John Taylor, Dave Holland and Peter Erskine.

Wheeler, meanwhile, adds feathers to the session’s growing wings, uncorking a rush of unbridled melody that elicits one of Holland’s most heartfelt solos on record against some of the cleverest cymbals in the business.
The Widow In The Window is relaxed, guardedly optimistic, at times even joyful. Mid-tempo swing, gentle Latin rhythms and poignant ballads provide the framework for the set, and all are developed at a faultlessly well-judged pace.
