History. Tommy Heath and Jim Keller founded the band in 1978 along with bassist Terry Nails (Steve Jones, Ozzy Osbourne), with Heath acting as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, also playing keyboards on occasion. 14 de dic. de 2022 · Tommy Tutone (which at this point included bass player Jon Lyons and drummer Victor Carberry) were already deep into recording their second album, Tommy Tutone 2, at Clover Studios in Los Angeles. Rather than demo the song, they went straight to tracking it as a priority. “We all said, ‘Side one, song one,’” Keller relates.
The drummer on the "867-5309" was Nathan Crow's long-time drummer and partner in several great bands, VICTOR CARBERRY, who Crow invited to join Tommy Tutone with him after Crow was offered the gig.
They worked with bassist Jon Lyons, who was later replaced by Greg Sutton and drummer Victor Carberry, who was replaced by Jerry Angel. Steve LeGassick joined in 1983, playing keyboards and synthesizer. Heath and Keller first got together in 1978, working in little clubs around San Francisco.
