It was released without his permission by Permanent Records. John decided to release No LIttle Boy with many of the same songs but with a different sound – the album he had originally intended and John is in fine voice throughout and Levon Helm, Phil Collins and Andy Sheppard all featured.

Permanent asked for John’s permission to release this album whilst John and Jim Tullio were working on the No Little Boy album.
Phil Collins told The Guardian (15 November, 2002) that No Little Boy is one of his favourite albums: "It's difficult to play songs with only two or three chords as you rely entirely on the atmosphere you create within them, but he manages it.
