In the jazz community, James Moody was universally known for his prowess on alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, and flute, as well as his vast contributions to the development of bebop. Moody, as he liked to be called, was certainly a Jazz Master.

  6. This was given to me by an uncle at age 6 or so,and was my first entry into the realm of all things Dizzy. The tracks here were a sampling from his late 40's big-band, and present a good overview of Dizzy's Bop and Afro-Cuban experiments for the uninitiated. Even the ballad "Dizzier and Dizzier" is incredibly compelling and a bit mysterious.
