    David Leslie Gilson Lavis (/ ˈ ɡ ɪ l s ən ˈ l eɪ v ɪ s / GHIL-sən LAY-vis, born 27 June 1951) is an English drummer and portrait artist. He gained fame as the drummer with band Squeeze in the 1970s and 80s. Lavis is currently the drummer for Jools Holland's Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, with former Squeeze bandmate Jools Holland.

More recent years have seen him team up with bandmate Jools Holland, first as part of the accomplished pianist’s Big Band and subsequently its Rhythm and Blues Orchestra incarnation from 1994.
