David Leslie Gilson Lavis (/ ˈ ɡ ɪ l s ən ˈ l eɪ v ɪ s / GHIL-sən LAY-vis, born 27 June 1951) is an English drummer and portrait artist. He gained fame as the drummer with band Squeeze in the 1970s and 80s. Lavis is currently the drummer for Jools Holland's Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, with former Squeeze bandmate Jools Holland.

9 de mar. de 2014 · In 1976, the man born David Leslie Gilson Lavis became the drummer with New Wave pop/rock group Squeeze, a position he occupied up until 1992. More recent years have seen him team up with bandmate Jools Holland, first as part of the accomplished pianist’s Big Band and subsequently its Rhythm and Blues Orchestra incarnation from 1994.
1 de ene. de 2020 · When Gilson Lavis replaced Gunn on drums everything seemed to fall into place, and word of mouth soon spread about the band – ironically, it was none other than Velvet Underground man John Cale who caught wind in 1977 and offered to produce their debut EP ‘Packet Of Three’ and much of the ensuing album.
Gilson Lavis was born in Bedford on 27th June 1951. His career has spanned four decades where has played with a myriad of people from the entertainment industry. He is one of Britain's most experienced and versatile drummers still performing and touring Britain and Europe on a full time basis.
