Prime Suspect is a TV mini series that follows DCI Jane Tennison, a female police detective who investigates serial murders while facing sexism and corruption in the London Metropolitan Police. The series won four BAFTA awards and features Helen Mirren, Tom Bell, John Benfield and other actors.

Maria Bello stars as Jane Timoney, a female detective in a male-dominated New York precinct. Based on the 1991 UK series with Helen Mirren, this TV series ran for one season in 2011-2012 and received mixed reviews.

As the team uncovers evidence of the victims and perpetrators of past crimes in the Yugoslav Wars, the prime suspect is a security guard of Serbian heritage. She is also reunited with a photojournalist who documented the war and with whom she was once involved.
