El grupo nació en 1984 de la mano de Konishi y Keitarō Takanami, Akira Kamonomiya, Mamiko Sasaki y Shigeo Miyata, este último dejó el grupo casi tan pronto como se integró, pero los demás se quedaron y conservaron el nombre Pizzicato Five.

6 de nov. de 2014 · Mamiko Sasaki, the first Pizzicato Five singer, mimicked Longet’s whispers to such a degree that P5’s record company insisted she be replaced (just so the band could have a vocalist who could be heard at concerts over the instrumentation).
