John Crichton, 3rd Earl Erne, KP (30 July 1802 – 3 October 1885), was an Anglo-Irish peer and politician. Early life. He was the eldest son of Lt.-Col. Hon. John Creighton, Governor of Hurst Castle and the former Jane Weldon (a daughter of Walter Weldon).
He succeeded as 3rd earl on his uncle's death (10 June 1842). (The Creightons had been created Earls Erne of Crom Castle in 1789, but from the accession of the 3rd earl the family thenceforth seem to have styled themselves 'earls of Erne'.) In 1845 Erne was elected an Irish representative peer.
