Donald Harrison was one of the few alto saxophonists Miles had in his bands (others included Sonny Fortune, Kenny Garrett and Cannonball Adderley), when he played for a couple weeks in December 1986, sharing the saxophone chair with Bob Berg.
Donald Harrison Jr. (born June 23, 1960) is an African-American jazz saxophonist and the Big Chief of The Congo Square Nation Afro-New Orleans Cultural Group from New Orleans, Louisiana. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the Berklee College of Music in 2021. He is also an NEA Jazz Master.
