The ultimate summer training center & incubator for today’s artist, catalyzing the change that will propel classically-trained musicians boldly forward. 140 fellows from around the world, ages 18-34, study and perform for eight weeks with 50+ teaching artists in the spectacular coastal setting of Santa Barbara, California.

The Music Academy of the West is a summer classical music training program in Montecito, California, and festival with performances in the County of Santa Barbara.
Composers Lera Auerbach, Elliott Carter, Paul Chihara, John Harbison, and Huang Ruo have written works for him. He serves as Goodwill Ambassador for the Korean Red Cross, The Special Olympics, UNICEF and OXFAM and serves on the faculty of the Music Academy of the West and is an Music Academy alumnus (‘98, ‘99).
